What is the biggest culture shock you have ever faced?

Chinese toilets. When I visited Shanghai 10 years ago, I didn’t want to use the public bathrooms due to the fact that they had no doors, which is not great for privacy. My dad told me that shopping malls are where I'll find the cleanest Western-style toilets.

There you go. The door size was too short and it was so disturbing to see the faces of people while they’re inside.

“Chinese toilet trauma”😂

Update: I’m not the one who took these pictures, I found them online. I just wanted to use these as an example. The toilets I saw (in that one particular mall) had no normal “sit-down” toilets with a normal door unlike the one on the left side of the second image. Of course you can find Western-style toilets in China.

Apparently as some of the Quorans stated, these are experimental “standing” toilets and the promotional poster on the wall says if all women urinate this way, 160 metric tonnes of water can be saved.
