It costs us a lot.
Some of my MAGA friends say Trump doesn’t take the $400,000 salary. But every single weekend he goes golfing he makes more than $400,000 because he puts his Secret Service detail into his hotels at full or even inflated prices and he charges us the use for his course. That’s why each time costs $3m. We should make a rule that he can go golfing, but he has to use a course near the White House. He could helicopter in and out and that way the Secret Service would not need hotels.
The Democrat leadership is probably afraid to agitate for that, though, because if they do, Trump will have time to make more hare-brained decisions. Or maybe they think they have other fish to fry with this administration, too much to deal with and this is a nothing issue.
I think we should do it anyway. None of us get paid to take vacations, why should our President? I mean, we might draw salary during our time off, but we don’t actually get PAID to go somewhere on vacation. WE pay for that part. If we started asking Trump to pay the golf fees at a local course, he’d lose interest in golfing right quick.
One reader, trying to support Trump, wrote in to say that if he went to play golf at a non-Trump course it would cost more to secure the perimeter. To that I say, “Oh yeah? And why would that be?”
Another reader wrote in with, “Most of our presidents of our lifetime played golf, starting with Eisenhower. Until Trump, they seemed to have no problem with playing nearby, on secure government courses. Andrews Air Force Base was common.”
It’s MUCH easier to secure the perimeter at a military base than at one of Trump’s golf courses.
It it was good enough for our previous presidents, it should be good enough for Trump🤨. We’re being scammed here, People, right under our noses, in full view. WE are the ones footing the bill for this extravagance. He was supposed to bring down inflation, take care of waste and fraud. This sounds like both waste and fraud.
Also, is there proof that Trump doesn’t take his salary? Or donates it? I hate to say it, but with this guy we need to check. It would be nice if we could take him at his word, but we can’t. If he really donated it, wouldn’t he be bragging about where he donated it to?
