Has anyone been born without a brain?

Jaxon Buell was infamously born with most of his brain (some 80%) missing, due to a severe abnormality of brain development called Microhydranencephaly.

He wasn’t supposed to live, but the little that was left in his brain made him survive a short pregnancy and a spectacular childbirth in which a boy without a brain still managed to cry like a baby.

And although he went on living for quite a while, the boy suffered from seizures, gastrointestinal problems, respiratory problems and infections.

In the last year of the five years that were his life, he subsequently started to slow down as if the short candle that he was handed to begin with was almost completely lit:

  1. "Ultimately, Jaxon passed away from his body and organs shutting down, as is common with children like him. This had absolutely nothing to do with the COVID-19 virus, but was something we always knew from the beginning would likely happen. We just didn't know when."

The boy without a brain surprisingly often smiled a lot (especially in the mornings) and even tried to mimic the words “Mama” and “Dada,” but never managed to say them in the end. He was promised only an iota of a lifetime when he surprisingly appeared, and the will was certainly there —

But sometimes that just isn’t enough.
